Should I send my original recipes or copies?
It's your choice. We can scan your recipes from clear copies, but you can safely ship your originals to us via UPS. Your order includes a UPS label printed right from this site that has a unique tracking number on it. You can track your package from the minute it's sent until the moment they are returned. It's completely safe and secured by UPS.
Can I enter recipes myself if I'd like?
Absolutely! Sign up for Key Ingredient here. Then go to Collect and select New Recipe. You can enter your description, add a photo, list the ingredients and add the steps to make the recipe by following our fool-proof wizard. It's quick, easy and free!
Copyright questions
Key Ingredient respects the intellectual property of others. Accordingly, we will transcribe only a recipe's list of ingredients and directions for combining the ingredients to make the recipe.
We will not transcribe:
- Entire cookbooks or recipe collections
- Descriptions, tips, or serving suggestions
- Comments on the recipe or other types of creative information
Use of this website, including recipe submission, are subject to Scan My Recipes Terms of Service. Any recipes posted from Scan My Recipes to Key Ingredient will be subject to the Key Ingredient Terms of Service.
How much does it cost?
The minimum order is $19.99 or 50 recipes. If we cannot read or transcribe recipes beyond the minimum 50 recipes, you will not be charged for them. So if you have fewer than 50 recipes or if we can transcribe fewer than 50 recipes, the minimum order is still $19.99. Any recipes over the minimum 50 recipes, will be billed at 39¢ each if they can be transcribed.
What format are my recipes archived in?
Your CD ROM archive contains your recipes in Adobe PDF format. The recipes are archived as transcribed text NOT as scanned images of your recipes. Your recipes will also be stored in a private collection on our Key Ingredient site. Recipes on Key Ingredient can be exported via email, blog and printed in custom cookbooks.
When will you bill me?
You will receive an invoice once your recipes are scanned, transcribed and the originals are ready to ship back to you. We require your credit card to create the UPS label for you to ship your recipes to us.
If I send in more than 50 recipes, is it still 39¢ each to scan them?
Yes. Any recipe that we scan and transcribe over the 50 recipe minimum cost just 39¢ each. You will not be billed for any recipe that cannot be transcribed once you have reached the minimum of 50 recipes.
